Ethereum developers have launched Hodi, a new testnet designed to rigorously test the upcoming Pectra upgrade. This upgrade aims to enhance Ethereum’s network efficiency and user-friendliness by introducing features such as improved smart contract capabilities and the ability to pay gas fees with alternative cryptocurrencies. Despite previous issues with other testnets like Holesky and Sepolia, Ethereum is moving forward with Hodi to simulate mainnet conditions more accurately. The testnet will serve as a critical stage for staking pools and node operators to validate their infrastructure before Pectra goes live on March 26, 2025. If successful, a mainnet rollout is expected roughly 30 days later, setting the stage for potential long-term price appreciation and ecosystem growth.
