San Francisco-based decentralized AI developer Sentient has unveiled Open Deep Search (ODS), an open-source AI framework that outperforms industry rival Perplexity in reasoning and search benchmarks. Backed by Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund and having raised $85 million in seed funding led by Pantera Capital and Framework Ventures, Sentient aims to democratize access to advanced AI with a focus on empowering web3 developers. The new technology, which promises enhanced multi-step reasoning and factual query response capabilities, was showcased at ETH Denver during the Open AGI Summit, where over 1,500 crypto and AI developers first experienced its potential. ODS will be integrated into the Sentient Chat platform with an initial rollout to early testers and planned weekly feature updates ahead of a full public launch within the next two months. The initiative challenges the dominance of closed-source AI models by providing the tools needed for developers to innovate and create next-generation applications.
