Hong Kong Greenlights Ethereum Staking ETF as Asia's Digital Asset Hub Emerges

Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission approved the use of staking services, paving the way for ChinaAMC to launch a staking-enabled Ether ETF in collaboration with OSL Digital Securities by May 15, 2025. This innovative ETF transforms a traditional passive investment product into an active participant in the Ethereum ecosystem by incorporating staking rewards directly into its net asset value. The regulatory nod leverages OSL’s insured custody and blockchain infrastructure, in partnership with Kiln, which not only supports Ethereum but also powers staking for other blockchains like Solana, Aptos, and Sui. Earlier initiatives by firms such as Bosera International and HashKey Capital have also signaled a broader market shift towards staking integration, underscoring Hong Kong’s ambition to solidify its position as a central digital assets hub for Asia.
The approval of the staking-enabled ETF is expected to bolster investor confidence in Ethereum, attracting institutional capital and increasing demand. In the short term, the enhanced accessibility to staking rewards may lead to a price uptick, while long-term benefits could emerge from sustained institutional participation and evolving market trends favoring active ETH engagement.
Although Solana is mentioned as one of the chains supported by Kiln for staking purposes, its direct exposure to the ETF launch is minimal. The news may create slight positive sentiment due to broader staking infrastructure developments, but overall impact on SOL is expected to be relatively neutral.
Aptos benefits indirectly from the spotlight on staking infrastructure through Kiln, yet the primary focus remains on Ethereum. As a result, any positive impact on APT is likely to be marginal and its price dynamics remain largely unaffected by the ETF launch.
Sui’s mention as part of Kiln’s supported networks may bring about modest investor interest. However, with the central focus on Ethereum’s staking environment, SUI's price is expected to remain stable, with only minor positive adjustments if any broader staking trends continue.
