Soneium, Sony's Ethereum Layer-2 blockchain developed by Sony Blockchain Solutions Labs, has launched a new incubator program called “Soneium For All” to support Web3 gaming and consumer app projects. The program offers resources, mentorship, financial backing, and exposure to help developers scale and gain traction.
Selected projects will benefit from a production-ready, high-traffic network already supporting major intellectual properties and more than seven million users with over 1.5 million daily transactions. The incubator also provides marketing support via blog features, livestreams, and AMA events.
A $60,000 grant pool is available for projects that integrate the Astar (ASTR) token as a utility or payment mechanism, facilitated through the partnership with Astar Network. Applications opened on June 9, 2025, with winners announced by late July.
This initiative builds on prior collaborations with Astar Network, notably the Astar Contribution Score campaign that incentivized ecosystem participation. Sony aims to leverage its blockchain infrastructure to expand its presence in the fast-growing Web3 gaming market projected to surpass $600 billion by 2030.
By creating and controlling its proprietary Layer-2 blockchain, Sony seeks to combine decentralization benefits with strategic control, enhancing user experience through digital ownership and NFTs in gaming. The incubator enables developers to gain immediate access to a massive user base, corporate resources, and investment opportunities via the Sony Innovation Fund.
