PancakeSwap has introduced a new cross-chain swap feature enabled by the Across Protocol, allowing users to exchange tokens instantly between multiple blockchains, including BNB Chain (BNB), Arbitrum (ARB), and Base (BASE), within a single transaction on PancakeSwap's interface. This upgrade eliminates the need for traditional blockchain bridges, external apps, or complex tools, addressing significant interoperability challenges in DeFi by simplifying and speeding up token transfers.
The integration utilizes Across' intent-based bridging technology based on the ERC-7683 standard, supporting over $23 billion in transfers through a decentralized network of relayers combined with UMA's optimistic oracle to ensure fast, secure, and cost-effective transactions. The system securely settles swaps in real-time without locking assets in contracts, reducing vulnerability to exploits like the historical Ronin Bridge hack.
Users simply select tokens and destination chains on PancakeSwap’s platform, with the entire transaction history conveniently tracked within the interface. This new approach significantly improves user experience by minimizing operational complexity and lowering fees associated with cross-chain activity.
According to PancakeSwap’s Head Chef, Chef Kids, and Across co-founder Hart Lambur, this innovation not only enhances security and speed but also potentially unlocks broader adoption of DeFi by institutional and retail investors. The initiative positions PancakeSwap as a leader in user-friendly decentralized exchanges addressing interoperability.
