Bitdeer Accelerates Growth with $50M Tether Investment and Plans to Reach 40 EH/s Bitcoin Mining Hashrate by October 2025

Bitdeer, a leading Bitcoin mining technology company, reported a robust 18% increase in its Bitcoin mining output in May 2025, producing 196 BTC. This growth follows the deployment of advanced self-designed SEALMINER A2 mining rigs, which added 1.6 EH/s to its hash rate. Bitdeer's total self-mining hash rate reached 13.6 EH/s, contributing to a global hashrate under their management of 27.4 EH/s.

Significantly, Bitdeer secured a strategic $50 million investment from Tether, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin. The capital injection aims to fuel their ambitious goal of expanding self-mining capacity to 40 EH/s by October 2025, a move that would cement Bitdeer's position as one of the largest publicly traded Bitcoin miners worldwide. This expansion includes scaling infrastructure, power procurement, and hardware deployment across several global sites, including Norway, Bhutan, the United States, Canada, and Ethiopia.

The company is also advancing its mining hardware technology, with SEALMINER A3 rigs in testing and pre-orders expected to open soon. The subsequent A4 generation chip, promising greater energy efficiency, is slated for release in late 2025, aiming to maintain competitiveness amid rising network difficulty and operational costs.

In addition to mining, Bitdeer launched AI Cloud services integrating multiple large language models, signaling diversification into high-performance computing (HPC) markets and striving for infrastructure sustainability by leveraging sites with excess energy capacity.

Despite challenges such as reduced Bitcoin block rewards post-halving, rising mining difficulty, and energy costs, Bitdeer's strategic partnerships, technological innovation, and geographic expansion provide significant opportunities. The Tether investment underscores broad confidence in Bitdeer’s business model and its growth trajectory in the competitive mining and crypto ecosystem.
