Satoshi-Era Whale Moves Additional 20,000 Bitcoin Worth $2.42B Amid Record High

A dormant Bitcoin wallet from the Satoshi era transferred 20,000 BTC (worth $2.42 billion) on July 14, 2025, marking the second major movement by the same entity within weeks. According to blockchain tracker Lookonchain, this follows the whale's earlier transfer of 80,000 BTC ($8.6 billion) on July 4 after 14 years of inactivity.

The coins were originally mined or acquired in 2010-2011 at prices between $0.78 and $3.37 per BTC, representing unrealized gains exceeding 3,000,000%. The latest transaction occurred as Bitcoin hit a new all-time high of $123,000 and was executed in two batches of 10,000 BTC each, sent to a modern low-fee address (bc1qmu).

While the whale's identity remains unknown, the coordinated transfers in consistent 10,000 BTC increments suggest single-entity control. Market speculation centers on potential profit-taking during the bull run, wallet security upgrades, or portfolio repositioning. The coins remain in the destination address with no further movement reported.
