Elon Musk's aerospace company SpaceX transferred 1,308.45 Bitcoin (BTC), valued at $152.85 million, on July 22, 2025 – the first movement from its cryptocurrency wallets in over three years. Blockchain analytics platform Arkham Intelligence confirmed the transaction originated from a SpaceX-controlled address, with funds moved to a new wallet at a minimal fee of $29.
The transfer appears internal, as SpaceX's total BTC holdings remain unchanged at 6,977 BTC (~$818.3 million), all custodied through Coinbase Prime. Historical data reveals SpaceX accumulated approximately 25,724 BTC during 2021's bull run (peaking at $1.6B value), but wrote down $373 million in holdings during 2021-2022 bear markets. This contrasts with Tesla's 75% BTC liquidation in mid-2022.
Arkham analysts noted the receiving address shows no spending activity, suggesting a wallet reshuffle for security upgrades or cold storage reorganization rather than a market sale. Musk previously acknowledged SpaceX's Bitcoin investments in 2021 following Tesla's $1.5B purchase, though precise corporate strategies remain undisclosed.
