Coinbase Institutional has launched the Mag7 + Crypto Equity Index Futures, a innovative futures product that combines exposure to the "Magnificent 7" technology stocks and cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in a single contract. This product, available on Coinbase Derivatives, the firm's regulated futures exchange, provides equal 10% weighting to each of its ten components. These include seven major tech equities—such as Apple, Microsoft, and other leaders representing about 30% of the S&P 500's market cap—alongside BlackRock's Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, and Coinbase's own stock (COIN).
The contract is designed to offer institutional investors a simplified, regulated way to gain diversified exposure to both traditional and digital assets without holding each individually. It marks the first U.S.-listed derivative to merge crypto and tech equities, positioning Coinbase as a bridge between traditional finance (TradFi) and Web3. This strategic pivot could attract new institutional capital and inspire similar products from other exchanges, fostering broader adoption.
