BNB-Powered ReachMe Messaging Platform Shuts Down Due to Low Adoption and Fairness Concerns

ReachMe, the paid messaging platform operating on BNB Chain, officially ceased operations on October 23, 2025, marking the end of an experiment in blockchain-based communication. The platform allowed users to send direct messages to industry figures, including Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ), for a fee, but struggled with low user adoption and persistent issues around fairness and accessibility.

Initially, messages cost 1 BNB per send, but this was later reduced to 0.8 BNB in response to public feedback. The platform also imposed daily message limits to maintain interaction quality, yet the high costs and restrictions contributed to weak engagement and growth. Broader market conditions, including a slight drop in BNB price post-launch, underscored the platform's challenges.

Fairness concerns emerged as the monetized model was criticized for limiting equitable access to prominent individuals, with debates highlighting the exclusionary nature of pay-to-message systems. While some users appreciated reduced spam and more meaningful interactions, the overall inability to balance revenue generation with inclusivity led to the shutdown.

During the closure, user data was securely managed in line with privacy policies, and all services have been permanently discontinued. CZ admitted the project's failure, noting that not all initiatives succeed, while BNB Chain continues other efforts like the Four.Meme airdrop and METUSDT futures transition, reflecting ongoing innovation in decentralized platforms.
