Coinbase Announces Scheduled Systems Upgrade, Temporarily Offline This Weekend

Coinbase, a leading U.S.-based cryptocurrency exchange with over 100 million users, has disclosed that it will undergo a scheduled systems upgrade on October 25, 2025, at approximately 7:00 AM PT, resulting in a temporary outage. During this period, all trading—except for perpetuals futures on INTX—across Coinbase.com (Simple and Advanced Trade), Coinbase Exchange, and Coinbase Prime will be unavailable. Additionally, all transfers on Coinbase Exchange will be halted, and any in-flight transfers will experience delays.

The company announced this via its official X account, advising users to follow updates on its status page for reminders and details. Some users expressed frustration over the weekend timing and the frequency of such outages, drawing comparisons to recent disruptions at Binance, which faced technical glitches during a market crash on October 10 and established a multi-million-dollar reimbursement fund for affected clients.

In parallel developments, Coinbase has expanded its asset offerings, recently listing Binance Coin (BNB) on October 22, a move that surprised many given BNB's association with competitor Binance. Other new listings include aPriori (APR), Meteora (MET), and Keeta (KTA), now accessible for buying, selling, converting, sending, receiving, or storing. Conversely, trading for Freysa (FAI) and Moonwell (WELL) perpetual contracts has been suspended, while futures trading for Sui (SUI) is now available. The exchange also highlighted stablecoin momentum, noting the supply reached an all-time high of $300 billion, with predictions of $1.2 trillion by 2028.
