1X Technologies, formerly known as Halo D Robotics, has officially launched NEO, a humanoid home assistant robot designed to integrate robotics into daily household tasks. The announcement, made on October 29, 2025, marks a significant advancement in consumer robotics and AI development, with the robot capable of performing chores like folding laundry, organizing shelves, and tidying rooms through voice commands and built-in AI.
NEO features a tendon-driven actuation system for gentle and safe movement, soft 3D-lattice polymer materials, and human-level dexterity with 22-degree-of-freedom hands. It weighs 66 pounds, can lift 154 pounds, and operates at just 22 decibels. The robot includes built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 5G connectivity, and is powered by an onboard large language model that enables it to hold conversations, recall context, and learn new tasks over time with human guidance.
CEO Bernt Børnich emphasized, "Integrating robots into everyday life is not just a goal; it's a necessity for the future of innovation in our homes." Dar Sleeper, Vice President of Product and Design, added that NEO is "engineered from the ground up for safety" and combines AI with advanced hardware to bring intelligence into daily life.
Priced at $20,000 for a one-time purchase or a $499 monthly subscription with a $200 deposit, NEO enters a rapidly growing humanoid robot market. Analysts project the sector could reach nearly $400 billion within a decade, driven by advances in embodied AI and labor shortages. Competitors like Richtech, Unitree, and Wandercraft are also pushing humanoids into factories and research, highlighting the intensifying race in robotics innovation.
