eToro, the global trading and investing platform, has launched public APIs at its annual Investor Summit, marking a significant shift from a social trading platform to an open financial ecosystem. This announcement coincides with eToro's 15th anniversary, celebrating its journey from pioneering social investing through features like CopyTrader and Smart Portfolios to introducing AI-powered, developer-friendly tools.
The new public APIs provide programmatic access to four key areas: market data (real-time prices, spreads, execution rates), portfolio data (profit/loss tracking, open positions, account history), trading functions (order execution, modification, stop-loss/take-profit management), and social tools (integration with community posts, watchlists, and interactions). Initially available to select users, broader access is planned in the coming months, forming the backbone of what eToro calls the 'builders' economy'—a model where users can create, share, and monetize investment tools and automations.
Yoni Assia, Co-founder and CEO of eToro, stated: "With vibe coding and public APIs, we're not just democratizing access to data, we're democratizing quant investing. We're empowering users, regardless of coding experience, to create, customize, and share tools that serve both themselves and the wider eToro community." The APIs support AI-driven 'vibe coding,' a natural language interface that allows users to design trading strategies without formal programming skills, paving the way for an upcoming eToro App Store.
In a parallel move, eToro confirmed the expansion of its signature CopyTrader™ feature to the United States, enabling U.S. investors to automatically replicate the portfolios and trades of verified investors in real time across stocks, ETFs, and crypto assets. This follows eToro's gradual U.S. entry, including a 2024 settlement with the SEC over crypto operations and a Nasdaq IPO in May 2025 under the ticker ETOR. The rollout positions eToro to compete with retail brokers like Robinhood, though it faces potential regulatory scrutiny as copy trading blurs lines between self-directed investing and managed advice.
With over 4,000 copyable investors from 70 countries, eToro's ecosystem now allows popular traders to earn up to 1.5% of assets copied, turning community participation into an income model. This expansion and API launch signal a broader trend toward AI-augmented, open investing platforms.
