The IOTA Foundation is commemorating its 10-year anniversary with a comprehensive 10 million IOTA token giveaway, designed to reward community members and highlight a decade of advancements in blockchain technology. Since its launch on Bitcointalk in October 2015, IOTA has progressed from a conceptual distributed ledger to a practical solution powering real-world applications, including digital identity systems, tokenized asset markets, DeFi projects, and supply chain transparency initiatives with global enterprises.
The token distribution is being rolled out in multiple phases: 2 million tokens are allocated as staking rewards through Binance Simple Earn, with varying rates based on lock-up periods of 30, 60, or 120 days. On October 2, IOTA hosted an anniversary event in Singapore, raffling 250,000 tokens among ten winners and awarding additional prizes like IOTA-branded Keystone wallets and commemorative goodie bags.
Further community rewards include 750,000 tokens airdropped on October 30 to Genesis NFT holders and LiquidLink DeFi leaderboard contributors, based on a snapshot from October 24. Native IOTA stakers also received 2 million tokens on October 30, determined by staking amount and duration at the time of the October 24 snapshot, with exclusions for exchange wallets and foundation addresses.
In total, 10 million IOTA tokens are being distributed, and the foundation has indicated that details on upcoming airdrops will be released in the coming weeks. As part of the celebrations, IOTA concluded its AI TV-Ad Bounty, where the community selected five winners from AI-generated commercials that creatively illustrated IOTA's mission. The first-place winner, Lanrewajuh, used InVideo for visual storytelling, while second-place creator Cigamatooi integrated tools like ChatGPTapp, Higgsfield AI, and ElevenLabs, investing over 10 hours into the project.
Additionally, IOTA is engaging developers through MOVEATHON Europe, a virtual hackathon running from October 20 to November 16, with over 300 participants competing in tracks such as DeFi & Tokenization, Digital Identity, and Supply Chain. The event includes bonus rewards totaling approximately $15,000 for diversity incentives, referrals, and early submissions. Leadership enhancements include the appointment of Karen O'Brien as Chief Marketing Officer for the IOTA Foundation and Manuel Vigilius as Executive Communications Advisor for TWIN, IOTA's trade and supply chain digital infrastructure.
IOTA's adoption is growing across Africa, Europe, and Asia, underscoring its focus on real-world utility and the future of digital trade and finance.
