On September 12, 2025, a hacker executed a flash loan attack on the Shibarium Bridge, stealing approximately $2.3 million in cryptocurrency assets. The exploit involved artificially boosting the attacker's stake to gain control over validators, leading to fraudulent exit requests and the seizure of assets including Ethereum (ETH), Shiba Inu (SHIB), ROAR, and KNINE tokens.

In response, K9 Finance, the official liquid staking solution of Shibarium, blacklisted the hacker's wallet, making 248 billion KNINE tokens completely unsellable. Initially, a 5 ETH bounty was offered for the return of the frozen KNINE, but the hacker ignored it. On November 3, 2025, K9 Finance increased the bounty to 20 ETH.

Kaal Dhairya, a Shiba Inu developer, publicly addressed the hacker on November 4, 2025, urging acceptance of the offer with a sarcastic message: "Yo, Shibarium bridge attacker, wake up—grab free cash before the offer expires this time and do something right." If the hacker complies, K9 Finance would recover its tokens, potentially restoring trust and leading to a price rebound for KNINE.

Following the incident, Shibarium implemented significant security improvements, including a new bridge version with enhanced features to block suspicious addresses, a seven-day withdrawal delay for BONE tokens to allow time for security reviews, and a collaboration with dRPC.org for a new RPC. These measures aim to prevent future exploits and strengthen ecosystem integrity.
