KuCoin Institutional, the institutional division of the global cryptocurrency exchange KuCoin, has entered into a strategic partnership with Cactus Custody, a digital asset custodian under the Matrixport Group. This collaboration integrates Cactus Oasis, an off-exchange settlement (OES) framework, designed to provide enhanced security and operational efficiency for large-scale clients and institutions.
Through this integration, institutional and eligible clients can execute trades on KuCoin without pre-funding exchange wallets. Client assets are held in regulated, fully segregated custody with Cactus Custody, utilizing multi-signature wallets, cold storage, and ISO-certified controls. This setup reduces counterparty risk, lowers transaction costs, accelerates settlement times, and improves capital efficiency. Trades are settled off the market every four hours, with KuCoin managing the transfers.
The partnership grants access to KuCoin's deep liquidity, with daily trading volumes of $7.76 billion across spot, margin, options, and perpetual futures markets. Wendy Jiang, General Manager at Cactus Custody, emphasized, "Cactus Oasis combines institutional-grade security with integrated operational efficiency. By launching on KuCoin, we continue to broaden institutional clients’ access to trading venues and further strengthen client trust."
This initiative aligns with KuCoin's $2 billion Trust Project, announced during the Token2049 event in Dubai, aimed at boosting transparency and reliability in crypto tools. Cactus Custody, which serves over 300 institutions worldwide and secures billions in digital assets, also supports DeFi access, OTC, and off-exchange settlement, bridging traditional finance with the Web3 economy.
