Solana Mobile, the mobile hardware subsidiary of Solana Labs, has officially announced that its native ecosystem token, SKR, will launch in January 2026. The announcement confirms the long-planned tokenization of the Solana Mobile ecosystem, which includes its Seeker smartphone line and associated applications.
Solana Labs co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko highlighted the milestone on social media, quoting the announcement with the remark, "It only takes 10 years to build an ecosystem." The SKR token is described as the native asset designed to power control, economics, incentives, and ownership across the Solana Mobile ecosystem. Developers have previously stated that SKR will be distributed directly to both users and application developers within the ecosystem.
The tokenomics structure reveals a total supply of 10 billion SKR tokens. At launch, 30% of the total supply (3 billion tokens) is reserved for airdrops and unlocks. According to Solana Mobile's official communication, these airdrop tokens are intended for "Seeker users, active dApp users, and similar groups."
The announcement builds on significant momentum for Solana Mobile's hardware. In August 2025, the company reported receiving 150,000 pre-orders for its second-generation smartphone, the Solana Seeker, with "tens of thousands" of devices already shipped to customers in over 50 countries. The Seeker device is an Android-based phone featuring blockchain-specific hardware like the Seed Vault for secure key storage, a built-in Solana dApp Store, and an onchain Genesis Token that grants holders early access to new applications and future SKR rewards.
Further details regarding the vision and utility of the SKR token are expected to be unveiled at the Breakpoint 2025 conference in Abu Dhabi, scheduled for December 11-13.
