BitMEX, a leading cryptocurrency exchange for spot and derivatives trading, has integrated a fiat on-ramp solution provided by Mercuryo. This partnership marks the first time BitMEX users can directly convert fiat currency into cryptocurrency on the platform, eliminating the need for external funding services.
The integration is designed to streamline the onboarding process for new users and provide a more seamless trading experience for its global user base. Users in eligible jurisdictions can now purchase digital assets using a variety of payment methods, including credit cards, bank transfers, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. The service supports over 30 fiat currencies, with conversions typically settling in a matter of minutes.
Once credited, users can immediately trade assets like Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Solana (SOL) across BitMEX's spot and futures markets. Raphael Polansky, Chief Growth Officer at BitMEX, emphasized the importance of user experience, stating, "The integration of Mercuryo’s on-ramps on the BitMEX platform provides our users with a robust and intuitive means of converting fiat into the cryptocurrency of their choice. The user experience (UX) is everything in crypto and Mercuryo has proven expertise in delivering an optimum on-ramp experience."
Petr Kozyakov, Co-Founder and CEO of Mercuryo, highlighted the convenience for traders: "The integration of Mercuryo’s on-ramps gives BitMEX traders the convenience of a trusted gateway wrapped in a familiar interface. This is an important step towards enhancing the trading experience for millions of BitMEX’s global users."
This move represents a strategic shift for BitMEX, which has historically been known as a derivatives-focused platform for experienced traders. By adding a built-in fiat gateway, BitMEX aims to improve user acquisition, lower entry barriers, and become more competitive with exchanges like Bybit, OKX, and Binance that already offer similar services.
