Shibarium Partner K9 Finance Issues Ultimatum Over Bridge Hack Resolution, While Community Faces Security Warnings

K9 Finance DAO, the official Liquid Staking platform for Shibarium, has issued a public ultimatum to the Shiba Inu development team, demanding a resolution for users affected by the September 2025 Shibarium bridge exploit. The hack resulted in the theft of various cryptocurrencies, including ETH, SHIB, LEASH, ROAR, TREAT, and over $700,000 worth of K9 Finance's native KNINE tokens.

In a statement on social media platform X, K9 Finance stated it had "followed every step requested by the Shib team" and operated in good faith through private channels. However, the DAO claims it has received no further communication or guidance, leading to the decision to go public. The group has set a final deadline of January 6, 2026, for users to be "fully and verifiably made whole." If no complete restitution is provided by that date, the DAO will formally convene to vote on its future relationship with Shibarium, potentially questioning the long-term viability of continuing business on the chain.

This development follows earlier efforts by contributors to track the hacker. Shima, a contributor to both K9 Finance and Shiba Inu, publicly traced the hacker's wallet trail after the perpetrator rejected a bounty. In response, Shiba Inu developer Kaal Dhairya commended the move and promised to involve the FBI while requesting cooperation from the KuCoin exchange.

Simultaneously, the Shiba Inu community is grappling with heightened security threats. The Shibarium trust watch account, Susbarium, issued a critical safety alert warning of scammers impersonating Tech Leads, Mods, and Admins on Discord and Telegram. These bad actors send fake "wallet bug" warnings to trick users into connecting to malicious sites designed to drain funds.

Susbarium issued a three-point warning to the community: Do Not Engage with unsolicited DMs, Do Not Click on suspicious links, and Do Not Connect wallets to unknown sites. The alert emphasizes that the only legitimate support channels are the official Shibarium Tech server and direct helpdesk, urging users to verify profiles carefully.
