Phantom, the popular crypto wallet with 20 million users, has launched on-chain prediction markets through a direct integration with regulated U.S. exchange Kalshi. The feature, announced by CEO Brandon Millman at Solana Breakpoint in Abu Dhabi, allows users to trade on real-world event outcomes—such as U.S. elections, macroeconomic events, and crypto prices—directly within the Phantom wallet interface without needing to switch apps or open separate accounts.

The integration supports trading with any Solana-based tokens, including SOL, USDC, Phantom's CASH stablecoin (issued by Stripe), and even memecoins like Fartcoin (FART). This eliminates traditional barriers like separate deposits. Trades are executed like regular crypto swaps, with automatic position settlement when markets close and real-time notifications for users.

A key social feature is the live community chat added to each prediction market, allowing users to share insights and track sentiment as odds dynamically update with new trading volume. This positions Phantom as more than a storage tool, expanding into a multi-functional platform that already includes perpetuals trading and tokenized stocks.

The move follows a competitive trend among crypto wallets to become all-in-one hubs. MetaMask recently integrated rival platform Polymarket, and Trust Wallet added Myriad. Kalshi's regulatory status under the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) differentiates it, though prediction markets face legal uncertainties—a Nevada federal court recently ruled event-based contracts might fall under state gambling laws.

Prediction markets are gaining mainstream traction, with media outlets like CNN and CNBC partnering with Kalshi for data, and sports organizations like the UFC and NHL engaging with platforms. This integration builds on Phantom's earlier expansions, including cross-border payments via Parallax, direct crypto purchases via MoonPay, and support for the Sui network.
