XRP ETF Inflows Outpace Bitcoin and Ethereum as Market Sees Sharp Rotation

XRP spot ETFs attracted $64 million in net inflows during the week of December 22-26, 2025, significantly outperforming its major competitors. This occurred against a backdrop of broad weakness in cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds. Bitcoin spot ETFs collectively saw net outflows of $782 million, while Ethereum spot ETFs experienced $102 million in withdrawals. Solana spot ETFs recorded a slight gain of $13.14 million.

Despite the positive flow data, XRP's price action remains bearish from a technical perspective. The asset continues to trade below its 50-, 100-, and 200-day moving averages and within a declining channel. Analysts note, however, that sell pressure appears to be diminishing, with bounces holding longer and each push lower becoming smaller, suggesting early signs of stabilization.

Simultaneously, Bitcoin markets witnessed a dramatic short squeeze. Data from CoinGlass revealed a massive liquidation imbalance in a one-hour period, with $4.79 million in short liquidations compared to just $139,410 in long liquidations—a 3,436% disparity. Total Bitcoin liquidations reached $4.93 million. This event is viewed as a signal of capital rotation, potentially triggered by a sharp sell-off in traditional safe-haven metals. Gold spot prices fell 3.1%, while silver, platinum, and palladium dropped 8.37%, 12.67%, and 16.07%, respectively, all hitting fresh intraday lows.

In the memecoin sector, Shiba Inu (SHIB) formed a short-term golden cross on its hourly chart as 2025 came to a close. The 50-hour moving average crossed above the 200-hour moving average, a technical pattern often interpreted as a bullish momentum signal. Following this development, SHIB's price rebounded from a low of $0.000007 on December 26 to approximately $0.00000739 over the weekend, extending slightly higher on Monday. However, a separate report casts doubt on longer-term predictions for SHIB, noting a complete lack of primary source validation or official endorsements from project leadership, including lead developer Shytoshi Kusama, regarding any potential Golden Cross signal for 2026.
