BitVentures Limited, a Nasdaq-listed company formerly known as Santech Holdings, has officially entered the cryptocurrency mining sector with the launch of a U.S.-based operation. The company has acquired a fleet of advanced Bitmain mining machines with a total capacity of 0.5 megawatts (MW) to mine Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin (LTC), and Dogecoin (DOGE).

The hardware deployment will begin in phases starting January 2026, with full operational status expected during the first quarter of 2026. The machines will be hosted in data centers across the United States. The purchased fleet includes Bitmain's Antminer S21 XP Hydro, S21 XP air-cooled, and L9 models, which are noted for high energy efficiency. The combined fleet is projected to deliver a Bitcoin hashrate of 30 PH/s and a combined Litecoin and Dogecoin hashrate of 0.5 TH/s.

This move marks a significant strategic pivot for the company. Previously operating as Hywin Holdings and later Santech Holdings, BitVentures was a China-based wealth management business. It officially exited that sector in June 2024 and has since rebranded, changing its Nasdaq ticker from STEC to BVC in December 2025. The formation of a new Digital Assets division reflects its shift toward blockchain infrastructure.

CEO Lawrence Wai Lok described the mining initiative as a proof-of-concept to establish a foundation for longer-term growth. The company's roadmap extends beyond mining, with plans to scale into staking services, running blockchain nodes, and forming ecosystem partnerships, depending on market performance and operational outcomes.

Following the announcement, BitVentures' stock (BVC) rose by 8% during intraday trading, signaling positive investor sentiment. The company's strategy aims to balance returns and risk by targeting both Bitcoin and select altcoins, while utilizing energy-efficient hardware operating at 12–13.5 J/TH for Bitcoin and 0.21 J/MH for Litecoin and Dogecoin.
