Ondo Finance, a leading issuer of tokenized real-world assets (RWA), has expanded its Ondo Global Markets platform to the Solana blockchain. The launch, which occurred on January 21, 2026, introduces over 200 tokenized U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to Solana's ecosystem. This move positions Ondo Global Markets as the largest tokenized stock issuer on Solana by asset count and directly challenges the dominance of rival platform xStocks.
The newly available assets include a broad portfolio of traditional finance instruments, such as growth stocks, blue-chip equities, and commodity-linked ETFs tracking gold and silver. A significant feature of Ondo's model is its access to deep liquidity from major traditional exchanges like NASDAQ and NYSE. This allows users to buy and sell tokenized stocks at brokerage prices with minimal price impact, a key differentiator from models reliant on smaller on-chain liquidity pools.
"We're excited to bring hundreds of onchain securities with Wall Street liquidity to Solana's thriving ecosystem," said Ian De Bode, President of Ondo Finance. "For the first time, Solana users can rest assured that they can buy tokenized stocks in size at brokerage prices, giving them peace of mind when trading onchain." The platform's liquidity model enabled it to launch with hundreds of assets immediately available, with plans to add thousands more.
This expansion brings tokenized TradFi assets to Solana's estimated 2.8 million daily active users, accessible through aggregators like the Jupiter trading platform. The launch marks a significant step in bridging traditional finance with high-performance blockchain rails, offering institutional-grade RWA trading on Solana.
Ondo enters a market where xStocks, operated by Backed Finance, has held approximately 93% market share since its launch in June 2025. As of January 19, 2026, xStocks had processed over $3 billion in total transaction volume and held around $182 million in deposited assets on Solana. Ondo's move sets the stage for intensified competition in the Solana RWA sector.
Ondo Finance launched its Global Markets platform on Ethereum in September 2025 and expanded to BNB Chain in October 2025. Across all its products and chains, the company boasts a total value locked (TVL) of $2.17 billion, according to DefiLlama, cementing its status as a major RWA platform. The Solana Foundation welcomed the launch, with Nick Ducoff, Head of Institutional Growth, stating it "expands what is possible for onchain finance" and that RWAs represent an important part of Solana's future.
