ChangeNOW has dramatically widened its speed lead in the non-custodial cryptocurrency swap market, with new benchmark data revealing median settlement times of under one minute. This performance starkly contrasts with the industry median of roughly 45 minutes for a USDT-to-ETH swap, representing a 45x speed advantage.
The findings come from Swapzone's 2026 report, "Speed Benchmarks: Non-Custodial Swaps Comparison 2026," which analyzed 150,000 completed transactions. The report paints a picture of an industry still grappling with slow settlement times, a problem ChangeNOW appears to have largely solved. For the high-volume SOL/USDT pair, ChangeNOW maintains a 1-minute execution time compared to a market average of 11 minutes.
This leadership position was already evident seven months ago. Swapzone's mid-2025 benchmark clocked ChangeNOW at a median of 1.8 minutes per swap, securing the top spot among eight platforms tested, with its nearest rival, Changelly, trailing at around two minutes. The 2026 data shows this gap has now widened into a chasm.
"At ChangeNOW, we consider speed to be a fundamental pillar of user trust," said Pauline Shangett, the company's Chief Strategy Officer. "Our goal is to eliminate latency as a barrier between traders and their funds to establish near-instant settlement as the new standard for the non-custodial industry."
The company frames speed as a critical trust mechanism, not merely a convenience. In fast-moving crypto markets, every minute a swap is processing is a minute the price can move against the user, creating a potential gap between the quoted amount and the final settlement. ChangeNOW's infrastructure-level optimization of liquidity routing is designed to compress this execution window, allowing it to clear swaps before most competitors have even confirmed the incoming deposit.
Combined with a market-leading 99.97% Accuracy Rate, this speed ensures the value quoted is the value delivered, neutralizing what the report calls the "hidden tax" of rate deviation. The platform supports over 1,500 assets across 110+ blockchains.
