Tokyo is set to host Asia's largest conference dedicated exclusively to XRP and the XRP Ledger (XRPL) on April 7, 2026. The event, titled XRP Tokyo 2026, will take place at the historic Happo-en garden venue, bringing together over 3,000 attendees and more than 20 speakers. The conference is a focal point for institutional adoption, real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, and DeFi development on the XRPL, with Japan's mature regulatory environment providing a key structural advantage.
The event is title-sponsored by Ripple, which is sending senior leadership including Christina Chan, Tatsuya Kohrogi, and Markus Infanger. J. Ayo Akinyele, Head of Engineering at RippleX, is also a confirmed speaker. The institutional weight extends beyond Ripple, featuring Takuya Sugiyama, Vice President of SBI Ripple Asia, SungMo Park from a16z Crypto, Tatsuya Yamada from Rakuten Wallet, and representatives from Evernorth, Securitize Japan, and the University of Tokyo.
Japan's significance as a crypto market is underscored by its regulated ecosystem. XRP holds a prominent position, listed on the JVCEA (Japan Virtual and Crypto Assets Exchange Association) Green List and handled by 20 member exchanges. This makes it the third most widely adopted crypto asset in Japan's regulated market, trailing only Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). The country's tokenized RWA market is already managing $2.8 billion, with projections pointing toward $6-7 billion by year-end.
The timing of the conference coincides with notable on-chain activity. According to CryptoQuant, XRP whale accumulation has hit a 10-month high, with large holders acquiring more than 11 million XRP per day. The XRP price surged nearly 5% in the 24 hours leading up to the event, reaching $1.35, outperforming the broader market. Analyst consensus for 2026 places XRP in a range of $1.20 to $2.50.
The agenda focuses on three core areas where Japan's regulatory clarity benefits XRP: institutional adoption, RWA tokenization on the XRPL, and DeFi. The discussions in Tokyo are expected to influence market perceptions of institutional XRP adoption, especially with the anticipated CLARITY Act markup in the U.S. in late April. XRP Tokyo 2026 is part of the broader TEAMZ Web3/AI Summit running from April 6-8.
