Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz has detailed a recent planned upgrade to a key XRP Ledger (XRPL) infrastructure hub, confirming the network's stability following a brief, routine maintenance event. The hub, operated by Schwartz, experienced less than ten minutes of downtime during the implementation of software and operating system updates.
The upgrade included the deployment of XRPL software version 3.2.0-b3, alongside OS and platform improvements designed to enhance efficiency, strengthen security, and support long-term network scalability. Schwartz emphasized that the hub had delivered consistent performance for weeks prior, dismissing speculation about deeper technical issues and framing the interruption as standard maintenance.
Concurrently, the XRP Ledger Foundation confirmed an update to the network's Unique Node List (UNL), a critical component for consensus. Gen3Labs joined the UNL, while the University of Sao Paulo exited voluntarily. The UNL determines which validators a server trusts during consensus, meaning such changes directly influence transaction verification and reflect ongoing efforts to maintain network trust, balance, and decentralization.
These updates follow the earlier release of Rippled version 3.1.2, which addressed vulnerabilities that could cause public nodes to crash or restart unexpectedly. The combined technical refinements—hub upgrades, software patches, and validator list management—demonstrate a sustained focus on strengthening the XRPL's infrastructure, resilience, and suitability for institutional and enterprise applications.
