Ondo Finance Partners with Clearstream and 360X to Bridge Tokenized Securities with Regulated EU Infrastructure

Key takeaways:

  • Ondo's multi-chain RWA expansion signals institutional adoption moving beyond Ethereum to include Solana and BNB Chain.
  • Integration with Clearstream's collateral pool could unlock significant new liquidity for on-chain securities from traditional finance.
  • Gamified campaigns like 'NVDAon vs TSLAon' may drive retail interest but test regulatory boundaries for tokenized equities.

Ondo Finance, the world's largest tokenized securities platform, has formed a strategic alliance with Clearstream, a leading global post-trade infrastructure provider, and 360X, a regulated digital asset platform backed by Deutsche Börse Group. The partnership aims to integrate tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) into regulated institutional financial infrastructure, connecting traditional markets with public, permissionless blockchains.

The collaboration spans the full lifecycle of tokenized securities, including trading, custody, settlement, and collateral management. In the first phase, Ondo's tokenized stocks and Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) are now available for trading on the 360X platform. This listing represents the largest mass listing addition in 360X's history and includes tokenized versions of major equities such as Apple (AAPL), Amazon (AMZN), Google (GOOGL), Meta (META), Microsoft (MSFT), Nvidia (NVDA), Tesla (TSLA), and Circle, as well as the SPY and QQQ ETFs.

These tokenized assets are issued on the Ethereum, Solana, and BNB Chain blockchains and are accessible to broker-dealers and institutional investors across Europe within a framework that meets EU regulatory standards. This availability follows Ondo Global Markets' (OGM) recent regulatory approval to offer tokenized stocks and ETFs in 30 European countries within the EU and European Economic Area, potentially reaching over 500 million investors.

In a subsequent, second phase, Ondo's assets will be integrated into Clearstream's custody, settlement, and collateral pool infrastructure. This integration will allow institutional investors to access onchain products through familiar workflows. Clearstream will also make the assets it holds in custody available to Ondo in tokenized form for distribution outside the United States.

Matthieu de Vergnes, Global Head of Institutional at Ondo Finance, stated that placing tokenized assets within Clearstream's network means institutions can access the benefits of onchain securities through the same trusted infrastructure they already use. Jens Hachmeister, Head of Issuer Services and New Digital Markets at Clearstream, emphasized the initiative's goal to build a more efficient and future-ready market.

Separately, Ondo Finance has also collaborated with Layer3 to launch a gamified activation centered on tokenized equities. The "NVDAon vs TSLAon" campaign on the Layer3 platform allows users to pick which tokenized equity (Nvidia or Tesla) they believe will outperform, take onchain positions, and compete for rewards. This initiative highlights the trend of integrating real-world financial assets with interactive, gamified onchain experiences to enhance user engagement and demonstrate the utility of tokenized RWAs.
