Cardano's Web3 wallet Lace has received two consecutive updates — versions 2.0.3 and 2.0.4 — as the blockchain ecosystem prepares for the upcoming Van Rossem hard fork, which targets Protocol Version 11 and is expected to go live in late June 2026.
Lace 2.0.3 resolved a critical white screen bug that prevented some users from completing wallet migration or connecting to decentralized applications. The update also fixed compatibility issues affecting legacy wallets originally imported from Nami, while improving DApp connector visibility and adding faster loading indicators throughout the interface.
Lace 2.0.4 introduced a default view mode allowing users to switch between Side Panel and Tab layouts automatically. Developers also added an auto-lock timer within Wallet Settings to reduce repeated password prompts, and corrected missing Spanish and Japanese translations that affected several wallet labels. These refinements aim to deliver a more consistent experience for international users.
The broader Lace 2.0 extension now unifies Cardano, Bitcoin, and Midnight assets into a single wallet interface, reducing the need for users to juggle multiple wallets when managing assets across different ecosystems.
On the infrastructure side, Cardano developers continue preparing for the Van Rossem hard fork, an intra-era upgrade that will not transition the network into a new era. This means transaction formats remain unchanged, minimizing integration work for wallets, DApps, and exchanges. The upgrade introduces stronger node security, improved ledger consistency, enhanced Plutus performance, updated reference input rules, and VRF key uniqueness improvements. Cardano Node version 11.0.1 has entered pre-release testing and is required to safely cross the hard fork. Stake pool operators and developers on preview have been asked to upgrade ahead of the mainnet step. Meanwhile, Cardano's consensus team continues advancing the Leios prototype under Treasury Funding Initiative 4, with reliability teams launching an operational Leios testnet.
