Anthropic is extending its AI reach beyond large enterprises with the launch of Claude for Small Business, a suite of AI-powered tools tailored for small and mid-market companies. Announced on May 13, 2026, the offering is accessible through a toggle inside Claude Cowork, Anthropic’s task-automation platform for business users.

The new features include automated bookkeeping, business insights, and generative tools for ad campaigns. Integrations with widely used software — QuickBooks, Canva, DocuSign, HubSpot, and PayPal — allow owners to automate invoicing, document signing, and customer relationship management directly within Claude. A subsequent update also connected Claude to Microsoft 365.

This move comes as AI adoption has largely been concentrated among large firms. Anthropic noted that small businesses account for 44% of U.S. GDP and employ nearly half the private-sector workforce, yet their use of AI often stops at basic chat interfaces. To bridge the gap, the company is planning a coast-to-coast promotional tour starting in Chicago, with free hands-on workshops for local business leaders.

The launch intensifies competition with OpenAI, which has already released ChatGPT Business for smaller teams. Anthropic positions its offering as more workflow-oriented, combining browsing, file management, and multi-step task execution.

In parallel, Anthropic expanded its legal tools with 12 new plug-ins from partners like Thomson Reuters (integrating CoCounsel AI and Westlaw), Harvey, Box, Everlaw, and DocuSign. The company’s revenue run rate has soared past $30 billion in 2026, up from $9 billion the previous year, with over 1,000 corporate clients each spending more than $1 million annually. CEO Dario Amodei warned that legacy SaaS companies risk bankruptcy if they fail to adapt to the AI shift, adding pressure on software stocks such as Salesforce, ServiceNow, and Intuit.
