South Korean exchange Bithumb has announced two separate temporary halts on deposit and withdrawal services for Casper (CSPR) and Ripple (XRP), both effective today.
For CSPR, the suspension is tied to the Casper mainnet upgrade and begins at 10:00 UTC on May 19. Bithumb stated the measure is standard during network upgrades to prevent transaction errors and ensure compatibility. The Casper network’s proof-of-stake upgrade may introduce protocol changes requiring exchange infrastructure updates.
For XRP, wallet system maintenance caused a halt that took effect at 2:33 UTC on the same day. The exchange emphasized the suspension is a routine security and stability improvement, with trading remaining fully operational. No specific resumption timelines were provided for either coin, though Bithumb advised users to monitor official channels for updates.
Both suspensions are precautionary, do not affect trading, and are expected to be lifted once the respective upgrades are confirmed stable.
