Digital Asset, the developer of the Canton blockchain network, has secured an additional $10 million from South Korea's Shinhan Financial Group and Standard Chartered's SC Ventures, a source with direct knowledge of the matter told The Block. The new investment increases the total size of the company's recent funding round to $365 million, up from the previously disclosed $355 million, and was completed at the same $2 billion equity valuation as the earlier financing.
The original $355 million raise was led by Andreessen Horowitz's crypto fund, a16z crypto, with participation from heavyweight institutions like ABN Amro, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, BNP Paribas, Citadel Securities, CME Ventures, Coinbase Ventures, HSBC, S&P Global, and others. Digital Asset’s co-founder and CEO Yuval Rooz said the addition of Shinhan Financial Group and Standard Chartered brings “further global reach, market expertise, and ecosystem connectivity” at a pivotal moment for both the company and the Canton Network.
The Canton Network is a public Layer 1 blockchain built for regulated financial institutions, enabling them to move assets and workflows onchain while preserving privacy, compliance, and control. The company said the fresh capital will fuel ecosystem expansion, developer engagement, and network growth. The network's native token, CC, was trading around $0.13, up about 2% over 24 hours, with a market cap approaching $5 billion, according to The Block’s price page. The investment deepens institutional backing and follows earlier collaborations with Shinhan affiliates and a Bithumb listing, signaling growing momentum for regulated blockchain infrastructure.
