Key takeaways:

  • The 200x spike in chain fees suggests genuine product-market fit for DATA, potentially driving sustained token demand.
  • Upbit's trading competition may amplify short-term $DATA volatility, presenting swing trading opportunities.
  • With 900M+ file backlog, network usage compounding, supporting structural bull case for DATA.

The DATA Network, an infrastructure platform for licensing real-world data to AI labs, has crossed the 100 million onchain data-registration milestone. The achievement comes alongside a growing, usage-driven revenue model, with daily chain fees now running in the thousands of dollars – a more than 200x increase from a few weeks prior. The surge has propelled the network into the top 20 by chain fees, as tracked on DefiLlama and Blockscout.

Every registration is a permanent onchain proof via the network’s Trace audit layer, recording data provenance, contributor identity, payment status, and licensing terms. The fee paid in $DATA for each record is the same event that generates revenue for the network, directly linking scaling registration volumes (currently 3–5 million per day) to growing income. Anchor contributor Kled alone has a backlog of over one billion files, with over 900 million still to register.

Coinciding with the milestone, South Korean exchange Upbit is running a four-day $DATA trading competition from July 24–27, following the token’s listing on the platform on July 8. The event includes a quiz, deposit missions, and a leaderboard with top-trader rewards. It is available only in eligible jurisdictions, excluding US persons and OFAC-restricted territories, with full rules on Upbit’s official channels.

Andrea Muttoni, CEO of The DATA Foundation, said: “Registration count is the KPI we watch most closely, because it is the most direct measure of the Network being used for its actual purpose. What exists today is the early part of a curve we expect to compound.”
