Two major corporate Bitcoin treasury players made significant announcements, reinforcing institutional commitment to the asset. Strive increased its Bitcoin holdings to a milestone 20,000 BTC, while Strategy disclosed a $25 million STRC buyback along with a record $3.75 billion USD Reserve.
Strive Hits 20,000 BTC
Between July 20 and 24, Strive purchased an additional 79 BTC at an average price of $65,723 per coin, spending approximately $5.2 million including fees. The acquisition pushed its total stash from 19,921 to exactly 20,000 BTC, currently worth about $1.3 billion. Strive adopted Bitcoin as a treasury asset in September 2025 and has since pursued aggressive accumulation. The company merged with Semler Scientific in January 2026, absorbing over 5,000 BTC in an all-stock deal, which preserved cash for further buys. Strive has authorized a $4.2 billion capital raise program specifically aimed at converting proceeds into Bitcoin. As of July, its cash reserves stood at $157.4 million, up from $154.1 million, despite a quarterly net loss of $393.6 million. CEO Matt Cole has modeled the strategy after fellow NASDAQ-listed firm Strategy, focusing on growing BTC-per-share faster than spot Bitcoin.
Notably, Strive’s buying spree continues even as several peer treasury firms offload their holdings. Satsuma Technology sold 579 BTC in December and voted to liquidate its remaining 668 BTC. Metaplanet paused purchases, while Smarter Web Company, Nakamoto, and others also divested portions of their reserves. Strategy itself recently halted BTC purchases, making Strive one of the few active corporate accumulators.
Strategy’s Reserve and Buyback
In a separate announcement, Strategy Inc. revealed a $25 million repurchase of its STRC preferred stock, acquiring 288,930 shares at an average price of $86.52 between July 20 and 26. The company intends to continue buying back STRC below $100 to support price stability and liquidity. These repurchases are funded outside the USD Reserve, potentially through sales of MSTR (its common stock) or BTC.
Simultaneously, Strategy increased its USD Reserve to a record $3.75 billion after raising $525 million via MSTR sales. This reserve covers 25 months of expected preferred dividend payments, highlighting the firm’s robust financial positioning despite pausing BTC acquisitions.
