Michael Saylor, Executive Chairman of Strategy, reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to Bitcoin by declaring that he has never sold a single satoshi from his personal holdings. The statement, made in a social media post, comes amid a broader cryptocurrency market sell-off and just weeks after his company sold over 1,600 BTC under a newly authorized monetization program.
Saylor specifically addressed the distinction between his personal investment philosophy and the company’s corporate obligations. “When I say ‘Never Sell Your Bitcoin,’ I speak as one saver to another. I have never sold mine. Not one satoshi,” he wrote. He further clarified that Strategy, as a public company, has disclosed since 2020 that it may buy or sell Bitcoin to manage capital, emphasizing that the company’s conviction in Bitcoin remains unchanged.
The comments drew swift criticism from longtime Bitcoin skeptic Peter Schiff. Schiff argued that Saylor’s earlier messaging had created a false impression that Strategy itself would never sell, accusing him of deception. Saylor’s clarification followed Strategy’s recent sales: in June, the company authorized a BTC Monetization Program, and last week it raised $104.73 million by selling 1,638 Bitcoin, reducing its holdings to 842,138 BTC while boosting its USD reserve to $4 billion.
Saylor has consistently promoted a buy-and-hold approach, influencing institutional investors and public companies. His personal stance continues to shape the narrative around Bitcoin as a strategic long-term asset, even as corporate actions introduce nuance to the message.
