Plume Joins DTCC Tokenization Working Group with Nasdaq and Schwab

Key takeaways:

  • Plume's DTCC working group membership signals strong positioning for compliant institutional tokenization infrastructure.
  • Kimber Transfer Agency gives Plume a regulatory moat few RWA-focused blockchains can currently match.
  • Advisory role lacks commercial integration guarantees, making PLUME's near-term price reaction potentially speculative.

Plume Network announced on August 6, 2026, that it has joined the DTCC Digital Assets Solutions Industry Working Group, placing the real-world asset (RWA) network alongside major financial institutions such as Charles Schwab, Nasdaq, and Alpaca. The group, which expanded from over 50 members in May to more than 100 by mid-July, provides industry feedback on The Depository Trust Company’s upcoming tokenization service and helps test operating standards for moving traditional securities into tokenized form.

The membership does not represent a commercial integration or a commitment to use Plume’s blockchain; instead, it grants Plume an advisory seat as DTCC prepares to launch its tokenization service in October 2026. The service will allow DTC participants to create tokenized representations of eligible securities, operating under a three-year SEC no-action letter. In July, DTCC completed production trades using its private Besu and the public Canton network, testing collateral, securities lending, and Treasury repo workflows—though Plume did not participate in that test.

Plume brings regulated recordkeeping expertise through its ownership of Kimber Transfer Agency, an SEC-registered transfer agent. The network intends to contribute compliance standards, anti-money laundering tools, and onchain ownership records for tokenized securities. The group’s work will continue through the October launch, with future expansion plans including connectivity to the Stellar blockchain in early 2027.
