Wallet infrastructure is contracting across two ecosystems ahead of deadlines that could leave users relying on unsupported smart-contract interactions.
Cyber has told CyberWallet and Cyber Passkey Wallet users to move assets before an unspecified Aug. 15, 2026 cutoff. CyberWallet users should transfer standard supported tokens to the signer wallet associated with their account, while Passkey Wallet users must send assets to an external wallet and clear balances. SmartGas deposits are an exception: they cannot be withdrawn through normal flows, and eligible CyberWallet users will instead receive Surf coupons.
Cyber says assets remain on-chain after the interfaces close, but accessing them would require direct interaction with underlying smart contracts—a technical recovery process the company will not support. Both product URLs still responded on Aug. 14, but Cyber did not publish an exact shutdown time or time zone.
Separately, Cosmostation, the second-largest wallet in the Cosmos ecosystem, will shut down services on Sept. 1, 2026. The wallet will retain only seed phrase and private key export functions, with all other features discontinued across iOS, Android, and Chrome. The closure, highlighted by WuBlockchain, raises concerns about lower transaction volumes and user migration to alternative wallets. Cosmostation has been operating since 2018.
The shutdowns follow a broader trend of crypto wallets and DeFi front-ends coming under pressure as capital concentrates in regulated products such as Bitcoin ETFs and stablecoins.
