Key takeaways:

  • Hiring ex-SEC leadership suggests Fireblocks expects stricter compliance to accelerate institutional adoption.
  • USDC leading Fireblocks volume implies regulated stablecoins may dominate institutional settlement flows.
  • Fireblocks' regulatory alignment could become a competitive moat as MiCA and US stablecoin rules tighten.

Fireblocks, the enterprise platform that says it has secured more than $14 trillion in digital asset transactions, has appointed former U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Acting Chairman and Commissioner Elad Roisman as Chief Regulatory and Policy Officer and General Counsel, Regulatory. The appointment is effective immediately, and Roisman will be based in Washington, D.C.

Roisman joins Fireblocks from Cravath, Swaine & Moore, where he co-led the Digital Assets Practice. He will lead the company’s regulatory strategy and policy engagement, handle legal work on regulatory matters, and serve as Fireblocks’ principal liaison to regulators and standards bodies. His arrival comes as the company describes stablecoins as a core settlement rail for institutions and says tokenized real-world assets such as money market funds and private credit are moving from pilot to production.

The appointment reflects a shifting regulatory environment: the United States now has federal stablecoin law and is negotiating market structure legislation, the European Union is implementing MiCA, and supervisors across Asia and the Middle East are setting their own standards. Fireblocks said those rules determine how fast the banks, payment companies, and asset managers using its platform can build and grow onchain-based revenues.

As an SEC Commissioner and Acting Chairman, Roisman voted on more than one hundred rulemakings and over one thousand enforcement actions, and represented the agency before Congress and international bodies including the International Organization of Securities Commissions and the Financial Stability Board. He previously served as Chief Counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs and as Chief Counsel at NYSE Euronext.

Fireblocks Co-Founder and CEO Michael Shaulov said: “Having people who understand the mindset and missions of regulators enables us to help inform policymakers and support our clients as rules come into place. That matters now more than ever, as stablecoins scale into everyday payments and real-world assets move onchain at institutional pace.” Roisman added that policymakers are focusing more on enabling innovation in digital assets, and that his work will center on engaging with regulators and supporting institutions under new laws.

Fireblocks supports stablecoin payments, settlement, custody, tokenization, trading, accounting, and compliance reporting across more than 150 blockchain networks. Thousands of organizations, including Worldpay, BNY, Galaxy, and Revolut, use its platform. In the second quarter of 2026, stablecoins represented 69% of all digital asset transaction volume on Fireblocks, with USDC emerging as the leading stablecoin on the platform earlier in the year.
