XRP is hovering just below the psychologically important $1.00 level as bearish derivatives positioning, overhead moving averages, and unconfirmed geopolitical headlines overshadow Ripple's latest banking partnership.
In intraday trading on Tuesday, XRP slipped roughly 1% to about $0.99, after trading between $0.988 and $1.002. Technical analysts identify $1.0150 as immediate resistance, followed by $1.0650. A rejection after crossing $1.0150 could trigger short-term selling, while sustained strength would open the path to $1.0650. The broader daily structure remains weak below $1.0700, with several lower highs since a sharp decline around June. A decisive reclaim of that zone would be needed for stronger evidence of trend reversal; otherwise rallies remain vulnerable. Further upside targets include $1.3000 and about $1.5500, while the main downside reference sits near $0.9000.
Derivatives data underline the cautious tone. CoinGlass shows XRP’s long-to-short ratio at 0.92, near monthly lows, meaning short positions outnumber longs. Funding rates turned negative to -0.0021% on Tuesday after reaching 0.0055% on Monday, signaling bearish positioning bias even with short-squeeze potential. CryptoQuant notes large whale orders in XRP futures but most indicators remain neutral, offering cautious optimism if larger investors keep building positions.
Momentum indicators reinforce downside risk. The 50-day EMA is at $1.07, the 100-day EMA at $1.15, and the 200-day EMA at $1.34, forming layers of overhead resistance. The Relative Strength Index is near 43, while MACD remains slightly negative.
Fundamentally, Ripple announced a partnership with South Korea’s Jeonbuk Bank to deploy its cross-border payment system. Under the agreement, Ripple Payments would let the bank’s business customers settle overseas transfers in seconds to minutes, with operations available around the clock. The service targets import-export companies, technology startups, and online content creators. Despite this adoption news, it has not yet been enough to change XRP’s short-term bearish technical picture.
Meanwhile, macro conditions add another variable. Reports suggest Washington and Tehran may have agreed to extend a U.S.-Iran ceasefire, but confirmation from both governments remains limited. A confirmed geopolitical improvement could improve risk sentiment across financial markets and support crypto recovery attempts, but traders still require clearer confirmation. Until XRP reclaims and holds above $1.00, the token remains vulnerable to further price discovery below current levels.
