Kinetics Internet Portfolio, a $275 million mutual fund within Kinetics Portfolios Trust, has acquired Class A common shares in Ripple Labs Inc. The position was disclosed in a quarterly Form NPORT-P filing submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The stake is estimated at roughly $150,000, a relatively small allocation for the fund. The filing reflects portfolio holdings as of June 30, 2026, but became public only in August because of standard regulatory reporting delays.
Notably, the fund gained exposure through direct equity rather than through the XRP cryptocurrency. Because Ripple Labs remains privately held, the shares were purchased through specialized over-the-counter pre-IPO platforms available to accredited investors.
The purchase coincides with a shift in Ripple management's tone on a possible initial public offering. At the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium 2026, CEO Brad Garlinghouse said the company now takes a more neutral view of an IPO, after Ripple executives including President Monica Long had previously denied concrete plans and cited the company's strong balance sheet.
The disclosure also follows Ripple's $750 million tender offer to repurchase its own shares, which valued the company at $50 billion. Meanwhile, the SEC has opened a proposed regulatory framework known as Regulation Crypto Assets for public comment, and Ripple executives have held closed-door meetings at the White House.
Against this backdrop of regulatory engagement and confirmed multibillion-dollar valuation, institutional investors appear increasingly eager to obtain private-market exposure to Ripple before any official public listing.
