XRP rallied more than 12% on August 20, 2026, breaking above the $1.081 resistance and pushing toward the $1.12 region. The move followed Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse’s participation in a White House event where President Donald Trump urged Congress to pass the Clarity Act, a U.S. digital asset legislative proposal. The meeting included several major cryptocurrency executives and helped end a period of price compression around the $1.00 level.
Technical indicators showed strong buying momentum, with XRP’s four-hour Relative Strength Index reaching approximately 87.6, well above the overbought threshold of 70. Analyst Diana said the next significant resistance is $1.145, and a convincing break above that level could open a path toward $1.20. If XRP pulls back, holding $1.08 as support would preserve the breakout structure, while a move below that level could send the token back toward its previous consolidation base near $1.00.
Separately, analyst EGRAG Crypto outlined a longer-term bullish scenario based on XRP’s post-crash history. Following the COVID crash, about $1.2 billion in crypto positions were liquidated and XRP later gained roughly 1,800%. After the FTX collapse, about $1.6 billion was liquidated and XRP rose around 1,200%. Combining those moves produces an average macro expansion of approximately 1,500%. EGRAG pointed to the October 10 crash, which reportedly saw $19.6 billion in liquidations, as a potential macro reset. If the historical average repeats, XRP could target about $13.18, though it would first need to defend its $0.87–$1.10 macro base and eventually overcome the previous cycle peak near $3.37.
