Corporate spending tied to crypto, artificial intelligence and online betting is already breaking records ahead of the 2026 US midterm elections. According to data cited by Reuters and Public Citizen, corporate groups spent $517 million on House and Senate races through March, exceeding the full 2024 record. Crypto, technology and online gaming companies accounted for at least $294 million of that total.
Crypto-focused groups have built a bipartisan political network through super PACs and affiliated organizations. Fairshake began 2026 with $193 million and still has approximately $130 million available for the November midterms. The industry is pushing for a Republican majority to pass the CLARITY Act and secure favorable rulemaking from the SEC and CFTC.
President Donald Trump has entered the campaign trail with his $400 million MAGA Inc. super PAC, beginning with a Friday rally in Myrtle Beach for Senator Darline Graham. AI-focused super PACs have raised $107 million and spent $55.5 million on federal races, with Leading the Future assembling a roughly $140 million network backed by Andreessen Horowitz and OpenAI President Greg Brockman. On the other side, Public First Action has raised $80 million, including $40 million from Anthropic. However, data-center backlash remains a political risk, with 71% of Americans in a Gallup poll saying they would rather not have new data centers near their homes.
