Two major Ethereum on-chain movements have captured market attention within the same 24-hour window, according to blockchain analytics platform EmberCN. One actor linked to a recent cryptocurrency theft continued converting stolen funds into ETH, while a well-known whale called 7 Siblings moved in the opposite direction by selling a large tranche.
The hacker bought another 3,386 ETH for approximately $7.95 million about six hours ago, bringing the total accumulation over 24 hours to 21,659 ETH worth $46.49 million. The average purchase price was $2,146 per ETH, leaving the position with unrealized gains of roughly $4.14 million at current market prices. Blockchain analysis shows the wallets had previously been flagged in connection with a major security breach, and the buying pattern suggests an effort to move assets into more liquid Ethereum, potentially to obscure the trail of stolen funds.
Separately, the Ethereum whale 7 Siblings sold 18,500 ETH for about $43.58 million at an average price of $2,356 per ETH. The entity had previously been known for accumulating ETH during price declines, making this sale a notable strategic shift. The move comes amid heightened volatility and near recent lows for the asset. Although such a sale represents only a fraction of Ethereum's daily trading volume, which often exceeds $10 billion, large transactions can influence short-term sentiment, especially during periods of lower liquidity.
Security experts note that malicious actors often use mixers or decentralized exchanges to further obscure fund flows, while Ethereum's transparent ledger allows analysts to track these movements in real time. For investors, the contrasting actions highlight the importance of monitoring whale behavior, exchange inflows and staking activity alongside broader on-chain metrics.
