Bitcoin's brief reclaim of the $80,000 level on August 25, 2026, has been attributed by prominent investor Anthony Pompliano to a direct response to the U.S. Treasury's announcement that it would double its purchases of long-dated bonds. Pompliano, CEO of Professional Capital Management (also referred to as ProCap Financial), took to social media to declare, "Bitcoin has no top because the dollar has no bottom."
The Treasury's decision to increase bond buying is seen by Pompliano as clear evidence that government money creation will persist indefinitely. In his view, this policy reinforces Bitcoin's core value proposition: a fixed supply of 21 million coins starkly contrasts with a dollar that can be printed in unlimited quantities. "The Treasury just reminded everyone that the money printer will never turn off," he posted, noting Bitcoin's aggressive price reaction to the news.
Pompliano argues that abundant dollars drive investors toward scarce assets, and Bitcoin sits at the center of this scarcity thesis. He described an "age of abundance" where artificial intelligence produces abundant intelligence while government policy produces abundant dollars, making true scarcity increasingly valuable. This structural dynamic, he believes, is more powerful for Bitcoin's long-term valuation than any new cryptocurrency legislation. He reiterated his long-standing $1 million Bitcoin price target, stating that as long as money is printed, Bitcoin's upward trajectory remains intact.
Bitcoin's price later eased to around $78,015, down roughly 1.4% over 24 hours, after the volatile session that saw it break above $80,000. Pompliano has also maintained that Bitcoin does not need the CLARITY Act to reach fresh all-time highs, placing monetary policy at the center of his bullish case. His commentary underscores the ongoing narrative that Bitcoin serves as a hedge against currency devaluation, with continued dollar expansion likely reinforcing its relative scarcity.
