Google Cloud has launched industry-specific versions of its Gemini Enterprise platform for legal and financial services, introducing agentic AI tools aimed at automating complex, regulated workflows. The legal offering, previewed for firms including Cleary Gottlieb, Freshfields, Weil, and Williams & Connolly, is delivered as a plugin inside the existing Gemini Enterprise app rather than a separate application.

The legal package focuses on contract review, regulatory tracking, court filing preparation, secure connectors to existing software, third-party legal-tech agents, and governance controls. It connects to systems such as iManage, NetDocuments, Everlaw, RelativityOne, DocuSign, Thomson Reuters, Harvey, Legora, and CourtListener, while consulting and legal-service providers including Accenture, Deloitte, KPMG, and Factor Law are available to support deployments.

Google Cloud also introduced Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services, announced August 25, 2026, targeting capital markets and corporate banking teams. A Google-managed Financial Research agent includes more than 50 specialized skills for report formatting, data retrieval, and institutional research methods. Secure Model Context Protocol connectors link to FactSet, Moody’s, S&P Global, MSCI, PitchBook, SEC EDGAR, Dun & Bradstreet, and productivity tools including Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.

Deutsche Bank served as a design partner for the Financial Research agent and plans initial deployment in its Corporate Bank division. CME Group is among other early users, while BNY, Citi Wealth, Lloyds Banking Group, Macquarie Bank, and Signal Iduna have adopted the underlying Gemini Enterprise platform. Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said making agentic legal work “accurate, factual, and grounded in legal authority is of critical importance.”

Google says customer files, firm strategies, and model outputs remain within private cloud environments and are not used to train foundation models, with traceable citations, policy enforcement, auditability, and explainability built into the governance layer. The launches arrive as rivals Anthropic, OpenAI, and Microsoft target legal and financial AI workloads. In early trading, Thomson Reuters shares fell about 3% and DocuSign dipped less than 2%. Legal and financial services are the first of several planned vertical packages, with healthcare and life sciences expected next.
