An Ethereum address linked to Tron founder Justin Sun has moved for the first time in roughly a year, requesting to unlock 5,000 stETH through the liquid staking protocol Lido. According to on-chain data, the address 0x176…0a132 made the redemption request at a time when the tokens were worth approximately $12.3 million. This marks the first time Sun has unlocked this amount of stETH since July 18, 2025, breaking a long period of inactivity that has drawn attention from market participants.
Lido operates as a liquid staking protocol that allows users to deposit ETH and receive stETH in return. The stETH token represents a user's staked position and accrues rewards over time. When holders want to reclaim their original ETH, they can submit a redemption request. Large redemption requests are closely monitored because they may indicate upcoming selling pressure, though a redemption is not the same as an actual sale.
Despite the recent unlock, the address still holds approximately 243,000 stETH, a position valued at around $600 million. The 5,000 stETH move is therefore relatively small compared to Sun's overall holdings, but it stands out because it breaks a prolonged pattern of inactivity. The reason for the move remains unclear.
There are several possible explanations for the transaction. Sun could be repositioning assets, addressing a liquidity need, or simply moving funds to another wallet. Alternatively, he could be preparing to send the redeemed ETH to a centralized exchange, which would suggest a possible sale. However, no confirmation of such a move has been observed yet.
Market participants are likely to monitor the address in the coming days. If the redeemed ETH is transferred to an exchange, that could add selling pressure to the Ethereum market. If the funds remain in a wallet, the unlock may simply be part of a routine reshuffle. For now, the sell-off question remains open, and on-chain data only tells part of the story.
