Pump.fun Adds HyperEVM Trading as Hyperliquid Strategies Expands HYPE Treasury

Key takeaways:

  • Pump.fun's HyperEVM integration reduces Solana dependency while monetizing cross-ecosystem retail flow via USDC.
  • Fee differentiation shows Pump.fun defends Solana share but extracts value from newer chain adoption.
  • Watch if HyperEVM volume offsets free Solana trading before calling revenue diversification a success.

Pump.fun has added full support for HyperEVM tokens to its trading app, allowing users to buy and sell HyperEVM-based assets directly against USDC. The integration moves the platform further beyond its original Solana launchpad model. Pump.fun confirmed that HyperEVM trades carry a 0.1% fee, while Solana trading remains free. The announcement was highlighted by Wu Blockchain on X, which noted that the same 0.1% fee also applies to Robinhood-linked assets, BNB, Base and other supported markets.

The significance of the integration goes beyond adding another blockchain to a supported-networks list. HyperEVM provides an Ethereum-compatible execution environment connected to Hyperliquid's broader infrastructure. For Pump.fun, supporting tokens issued there creates another route for attracting traders who may previously have had little reason to use an application primarily associated with Solana. The USDC trading pair is especially relevant because it reduces friction for users moving capital between ecosystems. Pump.fun also said HyperEVM trades qualify for its callout rewards program, extending an incentive system already used to encourage activity inside the app.

The fee structure reveals where Pump.fun is willing to subsidize trading. Free Solana execution helps the platform defend the ecosystem where it built its original user base and where competition for retail token trading is intense. Charging 0.1% on newer markets allows the company to monetize expansion without immediately abandoning its zero-fee proposition at home. At sufficient volume, Pump.fun could become less dependent on newly launched Solana tokens, since trading conducted through other supported networks could contribute directly to transaction-fee revenue.

The integration arrives while activity around the broader Hyperliquid ecosystem remains elevated. HYPE was trading around $81.56, up approximately 13.3% over seven days, with a market capitalization near $20.5 billion. By comparison, Bitcoin was near $79,700, Ethereum traded around $2,520 and Solana near $103.89. Although those prices do not directly determine demand for HyperEVM tokens, Hyperliquid's growing market footprint gives applications a stronger commercial reason to integrate its ecosystem.

Separately, Nasdaq-listed Hyperliquid Strategies, which trades under the ticker PURR, reported first-half fiscal earnings Thursday morning. The firm raised $647 million in equity capital and more than doubled its Hyperliquid treasury to 29.3 million HYPE tokens, valued at roughly $1.9 billion at the end of its fiscal year ended June 30. Hyperliquid Strategies maintained $149.9 million in cash and no debt. The company said it has since deployed $773.4 million to acquire about 16.5 million additional HYPE at an average cost of $46.77 and spent $27.8 million repurchasing PURR shares, leaving $132.6 million in cash as of Aug. 19.

CEO David Schamis said in a press release, "This was the year we built the platform. We are building against a protocol that is winning the parts of onchain finance that generate real fees." He added that the company finished with a "fortress balance sheet", meaning meaningful cash, no debt, and substantially all of its tokens staked and earning. The firm reported $709.9 million in net unrealized gains on HYPE tokens, offset by a one-time loss of $169.2 million on HYPE tokens contributed after the business combination.

PURR shares surged nearly 18% in Thursday's session, trading around $13.59 at publication time, with a market capitalization of about $1.8 billion. The firm reached its highest mNAV since May at around 1.35x. HYPE token rose 77% during the quarter ended June 30 and is up more than 50% over the past month alone. The platform and its token also received a boost during a recent press conference from President Donald Trump, who said Mike Selig is working to bring Hyperliquid into the United States in a fully compliant and legal fashion.
