The Cardano Foundation and Brazilian technology firm Blockforce announced on August 31, 2026 that Cardano is now live as the public verification layer for an enterprise supply chain traceability platform. The deployment has already anchored cryptographic proofs for more than 500,000 supply chain records in production, with signed contracts covering 6.5 million certified records through 2030.
The system is being used by Azzas 2154, described as Latin America’s largest fashion group after the merger of Arezzo&Co and Grupo Soma, to trace leather sourcing. The company cross-references commercial invoices, procurement records and official public database information, with a corporate goal of reaching 100% traceability for leather supplies across its brands by 2030.
The platform uses a dual-ledger architecture. Sensitive commercial data remains on a permissioned network based on Hyperledger Fabric, while cryptographic proofs for each batch are published on the public Cardano blockchain. This allows external auditors and regulators to verify batch authenticity without exposing supplier identities, prices or contracts. However, the partners noted that the architecture proves that a record existed and has not been altered, while data accuracy still depends on source documents and validation procedures.
Blockforce CEO André Salem said verifiable public proofs are becoming an entry requirement for international trade into European territory. The implementation is positioned against European Union deforestation regulations and digital product passport requirements, which impose stricter environmental verification on raw material exporters.
According to the Cardano Foundation and Blockforce, joint batching optimization through the uVerify protocol reduced public anchoring costs per record by 92%. The 92% figure was supplied by the project partners and has not been independently audited. The partners identified automotive manufacturing, agribusiness, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics as possible expansion areas, though no additional customers or dates were disclosed.
In related developments, Volvo has previously tested blockchain infrastructure for supplier transactions and compliance records in a closed environment, while Blockforce combines a restricted network with public Cardano proofs.
