Key takeaways:

  • XMR swap spreads reveal liquidity gaps, making payout comparison critical for traders.
  • A 2.55% median spread shows fee transparency alone cannot guarantee best execution.
  • Fixed-rate quotes may shift; verify final amounts before confirming large swaps.

A new examination of live crypto swap quotes shows that relying on advertised fees or headline rates can mask significant differences in the final amount a user receives. Monivo, a non-custodial crypto swap aggregator, published data from its Crypto Swap Rate Index comparing provider quotes for the same trading pair, send amount, rate type, and observation moment.

As of August 31, 2026, the index included more than 1,000 provider quotes from eight providers, covering 17 trading pairs and 171 comparable quote sets. The median best-to-worst spread across the sample was 2.55%, with a mean of 2.77%. Among the most represented pairs, XMR to BTC recorded the largest median spread at 3.65%, with a widest observed gap of 4.90%. USDT to XMR followed at 3.07%, BTC to USDT at 2.41%, BTC to ETH at 1.96%, and ETH to BTC at 1.71%.

Monivo said it does not rank providers because they did not respond across a sufficiently comparable share of quote sets, which could distort a leaderboard. The platform calculates each comparable spread as (highest payout – lowest payout) ÷ lowest payout. It likens swap comparison to travel metasearch: users select assets, networks and an amount, providers return quotes, and the expected wallet amount becomes the key comparison point.

The aggregator supports swaps across more than 1,000 cryptocurrencies, offers fixed and floating rates where available, and does not take custody of assets. It notes that quotes are not completed trades and may change, especially with floating rates. The article is sponsored content, and the index represents a sample from Monivo's connected providers rather than the entire market.
