Tether's stablecoin ecosystem has expanded to the Stellar network, marking a significant milestone for cross-border payments and stablecoin liquidity. The integration brings USDT0 to Stellar, giving users access to the same USDT liquidity available across other connected networks, a market capitalization exceeding $180 billion.
USDT0 is built on LayerZero's OFT interoperability standard and maintains a unified supply backed 1:1 by USDT. Unlike traditional bridge models, it does not rely on wrapped tokens or isolated liquidity pools, which could make Stellar more attractive to exchanges, wallets, and payment providers.
Stellar has focused heavily on stablecoins, tokenized real-world assets, and institutional infrastructure. According to the network, stablecoin payment volume reached $5.5 billion in the first quarter of 2026, up 72% from a year earlier, while tokenized real-world assets surpassed $2 billion shortly after the quarter ended. The blockchain offers fees below one cent and transaction finality in about five seconds.
The integration is particularly relevant for emerging markets in Latin America, Africa, and Asia-Pacific, where Tether's USDT is widely used for savings, remittances, and dollar-denominated payments. USDT0 is initially available through Kraken, Freighter, Lobstr, Bitget, Fireblocks, Ramp Network, and SushiSwap, with additional integrations expected in the coming months.
