Robinhood Chain, the Ethereum-compatible Layer 2 network launched by Robinhood on July 1, 2026, temporarily stopped producing new blocks on Sept. 4. Data from the Blockscout explorer showed the network went at least 13 minutes without recording a new transaction. Wu Blockchain initially flagged the incident after no new blocks appeared for more than six minutes, and subsequent monitoring indicated the interruption extended beyond 10 minutes, with some reports putting the gap at roughly 14 minutes before block production resumed.
The cause of the disruption had not been publicly disclosed at the time of reporting. Robinhood's main status page showed no officially reported incident for Sept. 4, though it later listed the mainnet as operational. Robinhood Chain is built using Arbitrum technology and uses ETH as its native gas token. It is positioned as infrastructure for tokenized real-world assets and onchain financial services, including Robinhood's Stock Tokens, which aim to bring exposure to equities and ETFs onto blockchain rails.
The outage arrived as activity on the chain accelerates. Its DeFi ecosystem recently surpassed $700 million in total value locked, decentralized-exchange activity has risen sharply, and infrastructure providers such as Chainstack have added mainnet node support. The incident also follows criticism from AMC CEO Adam Aron over Robinhood's tokenized AMC shares, while Robinhood's stock entered Friday after a 16.6% surge on Thursday driven by Wall Street upgrades.
Although the interruption was relatively short and did not affect Robinhood's main brokerage or crypto accounts, it highlights reliability concerns for a network aiming to provide financial-grade infrastructure for tokenized markets.
